About The Speaker
Takura Zhangazha is the Resource of Open Minds (R.O.O.M.) project manager for Hivos Southern Africa. Takura's background is in activism for media freedom, freedom of expression, and access to information in the Southern African region. He has previously worked for the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Zimbabwe Chapter) and the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe. He has an avid interest in literature and music from and about Africa. He is also keen on Africa’s placement in an increasingly globalized world and how it is representing itself in the age of surveillance capitalism. In his private time, Takura is also a blogger and writes on key political, economic, and social events as they affect Zimbabweans and Africans in general. Takura holds a MSc African Studies from the Centre of African Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Takura will be co-curating the SOUND track.
